Who we are

The Lioness Club of Sutherland Shire consists of a group of ladies who volunteer their time to help worthwhile causes and charities.

The Club has many purposes. They include promoting friendship, fellowship, enjoyment and self-development through service to the community.

With a core membership of around 40 ladies, we are committed to raising essential funds to help those less fortunate in our community.

What we do

We exist to serve the community. We do this by running a range of fundraising projects and events each year. Since 2000, we have donated just over $1 million to worthwhile community recipientsSome of our regular projects for raising money are:

  • Bunnings BBQs

  • Fashion Parades

  • International Women’s Day Luncheon

  • Trivia Nights

  • Raffles

  • Telemarketing

  • Christmas Cake sales

See our Get Support page for some of our recent fundraising recipients.

History

In June 1978, a group of community minded women from different parts of the Sutherland Shire met for the first time with a view of forming a Lioness Club. Just four months after the initial meeting of ladies, the Lioness Club of the Sutherland Shire was chartered with 27 members.

In 2018 we celebrated our 40th birthday. Our club is now the sole Lioness club in the Sydney metropolitan area.
