Farewell from us
After 42 years of serving the community, the Lioness Club of Sutherland Shire met for the last time in October with a farewell luncheon at Tradies Gymea.
Since 1978 the club has donated in excess of $1.5M to support local, national and international organisations and causes such as Orana, One Meal, Children's Mobility Foundation, Kookaburra Kids, Assistance Dogs, Sutherland Early Support Service, Westpac Life Saver Rescue,
Sutherland Hospital Neo-Natal Nursery, NSW Drought Relief, Dunlea Centre, Little Wings and the Daffodil Foundation. Funds have also been donated to local high schools and families in need - most notably donating funds to support the purchase of wheelchair accessible vehicles for children with disabilities.
In addition, the club has facilitated educational forums such as Maturity to the Max, Heart Health and Stroke Awareness and participated in expos to promote health and community connections to the Shire's residents.
The club is immensely proud of all its achievements, and on behalf of the past and present members would like to thank everyone who has supported its activities over the past 42 years.
It has been an honour to serve the community.
Bush Fire Appeal
Lioness members were at Bunnings, Kirrawee, on Sunday 19th January 2020 at a cake stall to aid communities affected by the recent bush fires. Members had baked an amazing selection of goods. All proceeds from sales and donations will be donated to the Lions District Disaster Fund.
